What do Singaporeans die from? The answer to this question could be very helpful for us to avoid the pitfall of poor health.

There were 17140 deaths in the year 2007 . Slightly over one in four people died from cancer and about one in five people died from ischaemic heart diseases (heart attacks).

The common cancers such as cervical, lung, breast and colorectal cancers could be detected early by regular health screening.  Heart attacks and some cancers such as lung cancer could be prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle (e.g by not smoking).

I have a friend who swears that eating more vegetables reduces cancer. I am looking for statistics from 1990 to have an idea if indeed incidence of cancer has gone up in %age wise.
